those whispered lies.

melanie. twenty. australia.
i am either procrastinating or bored.
i might be writing. but you don't care about that.

of greatness.

will you argue that the sins of the father can’t be passed on to the son? i fear, if that’s the case, then neither can his glories. you can’t be held accountable for the wrongdoings of a father before your birth. so why then should any title or glory be given to the children of a great man?
is it not presumptuous to assume greatness when it is not proven?
should you not prove yourself? to be better, worse, or simply the same as the father before you. should you not earn respect for your own endeavours? ripe with opportunity, with the world at your feet, let your actions definite you.
not the actions of the man before you.
i wouldn’t wish to be my father, i strive to be better than him. you can argue that he is a hard working man, and essentially good. but to learn nothing from his mistakes would be to ignore the warnings of the past. the past offers wisdom only the ignorant ignore.
i wouldn’t dare warn you who the fates dislike more; the presumptuous, the ignorant or those who live on their fathers past glory.
